BASS made the decision to eliminate the Women’s
Bassmaster Tour from the Bassmaster Tournament
Trail. Despite BASS’ best efforts to grow the WBT,
participation levels have been declining significantly
since the inception of the tour in 2005. We have
worked diligently to grow the WBT to increase or
maintain participation levels – even awarding a
berth in the Bassmaster Classic – but ultimately, our
efforts didn’t resonate. This was a very tough
decision and one that we didn’t take lightly. We certainly appreciate all of your
support of the WBT.

Women’s Bassmaster Tour is canceled!
March 27th is the date for the 2010 Relay for Life Fishing
Tournament on Lake Ouachita at the Brady Mountain boat
ramp. Time will be 7 AM – 3 PM. Top Prize will be $1500 and
set of Angler Jackets. Cash and prizes will be award to the
Top 10 weights. Entry fee of $80 per boat is tax deductible and
includes lunch for the fishing team. Door prizes will be
awarded during the weigh in. Bob Robbins will once again
serve as Weigh Master for this 7th annual event. Participants
may register by mail. For more information click the Relay for
Life link. Flight position is awarded on a first come first serve
basis. For more information to participate or to become a

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Kevin VanDam
of Kalamazoo, Mich., added another
championship to his career Sunday,
taking the win at the 40th
Bassmaster Classic on Lay Lake.
The Fourche Valley Bass Club held their first
tournament, Saturday, February 20th on Lake Nimrod.
It was a beautiful day to be on the lake, but a tough day
fishing, only 7 people out of 18 entries weighed in fish.
Kenny Miller took first place, Aaron McEwen, 2nd place
and also Big Bass, a 6.88 hog, and Cody Reed was 3rd.
Our next tournament will be March 6th on Lake
Hamilton.

Feb 20th marked the 1st tournament for the Sherwood Bass Club
2010 season. 45 teams fished the opening event and were all
hoping for a great day of fishing after 2 days of temp’s in the upper
50’s. However as the teams were coming back to the ramp at 3 PM
you could sense that fishing hadn’t improved yet due to all the cold
weather this winter. However a few teams figured them out and
below are the top ten results.
1st : Jack Wood/David Hargett weighed in 12.50 lbs for the 1st place victory.
They said they caught their fish deep on jigs and C-rigs. This won them $$810.
2: Kevin Thompson/Matt Greer weighed in 10.10 lbs which won them $495 plus
they won a additional $450 for big bass ” a Lake Hamilton “Pig” that weighed
5.86 lbs. They caught them on homemade jigs in deep water.
Jeff Grappe/Jeff Glymp weighed in 9.20 lbs. They caught their fish on jerkbaits
and won them $315
